30ft Sighteer Engine noise

We just purchased a 30ft Sighteer. The engine fan makes a loud noise when it comes on. At least I think it is noisy. My husband says it is normal. Is there any maintenance we should we doing. The unit seems to have been well cared for.

It is difficult to address your question without more information.
What engine do you have?
What kind of noise are you hearing and when does it go away? (eg. Loud ticking, dull knocking, high rpm, etc.)
And, why does your husband say that the noise is normal? He may know what the source of the noise is.
Did you check for any engine codes?

All of this information will help all of us to better evaluate your issue.
Thanks.

PS. Fill in your information so we can better assist you.

Our 2013 Winnebago made a lot of noise going up steep hills, when a fan (possibly to cool the tranny) turned on. Combined with the high revving engine, it made for a loud ride up hills. If that’s what you are hearing it is normal and operating as designed. Some people add sound deadening material under the dog house. We didn’t as we didn’t have to drive in the mountains very much. The tuning of the new engine/transmission on our 2017 Winnebago has reduced the noise.

It is the Ford V-10 engine.

Yes, when under a load, typically you would be rev'ing pretty high, 3000-4000 RPM and the fan kicks on, it is loud.

The V-10 is a higher rev'ing engine.

The other thing that aggravates people is the downshifting from 5th to 4th. Many times the RPM's jump quite a bit, making quite a bit of noise. This tends to happen to drivers who want to keep their speed at 55-65mph and when they start up a hill they press down on the accelerator and suddenly it downshifts.

A couple of our previous units, both with Chevy power, were noisy at startup. The noise was because the fan clutch engaged for a few seconds then went to normal (cannot explain why). We also heard the noise at speed if we were traveling uphill in very hot weather. The sound is exactly like a house fan on high speed.

Noise

The cooling fan is very noisy when it comes on which is typically when it is under heavy load and at high RPM's. It is normally clutched to save energy.

Normal operation. If the hubby wants to know more about what is going on, get a Scangauge, plug and play and gives digital readout for 4 gauges at a time plus several you don't see on the dash. My motor runs right at 190 and the fan comes on around 208, cools both the motor and the Trans. Trans should not get above 210 for long as this wears out the trans fluid. If your towing, for me, this is a needed accessory. $135-$150
