2018 Vista 32ye

Picking up a “new” 2018 32ye next week. I was wondering about the performance of the Ford V-10 as this is one of the heavier Vista coaches. Are the performance upgrades needed? Also, does anyone know the actual curb weight of the coach? I can’t locate it. Thanks for helping a newbie.

Congrats on your new rig..The only way to know how heavy the rig is would be to pass over a commercial scale .The figures W B state are a bit shy usually of the actual weight. Try to take the time to shift the wheels over the scale and write all the measurements down.. With this new unit you will be enjoying the new improved Ford V10 with a little less HP but more torque..added to that is a new 6 speed transmission that improves the driveability overall..I am very happy with my 29VE Vista and I don't think your longer rig will be much different.... Have fun...

The newer V10s have plenty of power. I actually have to watch our speed in our 32YE. We are also pulling a Ford Fusion on a tow dolly, probably over 4,000 lbs, with no issues.

My first thought is "if you have to ask..."

Seriously, we get between 7 and 8 mpg pulling the toad on generally flat roads. Not sure what we get without the toad. The good news is the toad gets great gas milage while it is being towed.

Towing the Equinox,,, on a bad day we get 7 mpg, on a good day we get 7.8 mpg. And like the post above, I've never checked it when not towing.

We just traded our 2018 32YE, we loved it for all the storage it has for a smaller coach. We just needed a different floor plan. The weight is GVWR 18,000 lbs and the GAWR is 7000 on the front and 12,000 on the rear, cold PSI 82 psi. We took it to the Mountains this Fall (no toad) and as long s you put on the "Tow Haul" button, you will be good. Have fun, I actually miss ours, we have 38' now, but way less bay and interior storage.

That's coincidental, I had an '88 27' Itasca Suncruiser myself, Winnebago's first basement model. Loved that RV. It did pretty good with the 454 V8 with carburetor, but my 2018 32YE is way better with only 415CU (6.8L) V10. I just got my 32YE in Oct, still sorting things out and learning about the rig.

I have a 99 Fleetwood Pace Arrow with the same F53 chassis and V10 motor, the first year it was used in RV's, when the heads only had 2 valves per cylinder. It's been a great rig, now for sale with only 32K miles. It originally had 305HP with 5 speed trans, but it's been boosted to 340HP (so they claim) with a Banks header kit, which worked great, very noticeable, and about 1mpg more when not towing.

My new 32YE is rated stock with 320HP, and it feels about the same as my 1999 RV, except it feels like it has more torque, and the 6 speed trans makes it climb hills better. The sad part is that in California you CANNOT install a Banks header power kit legally to get better gas mileage because it won't pass smog inspection. I live only 20mi from the OP so he will have that limitation. But overall the power is pretty good in stock form. I'm not sure I'll need a Banks Header kit, but today I confirmed Banks would sell me a compatible kit, and they'll even install it for me in their Azusa facility because my rig is registered in Montana, where I have property. Those Montana plates are sweet.

I absolutely agree with that. It takes no effort at all to get up to 70 mph before you know it!
