2018 Journey Drip Rail Sealant

I talked to Lichstinns RV about the sealer for the roof to gutter seal on my 2018 Journey. They recommend Henry 212 sealer.(no silicone). Has anyone tried using Through the Roof brand sealer?

Pay attention to section 3 of the SDS, it contains 30-40% petroleum products: https://www.sashco.com/wp-content/up..._cartridge.pdf
I'd stick with what the Winnebago dealer/repair center recommended.

Thanks for your quick response Ray. I think that’s what I’ll do.

Congratulations on having what must be one of the last original Journeys produced in Forest City.

In 2018 they stopped building Journeys, Tours and Grand Tours in Iowa to begin the “grand” move of all Diesel Pusher production (except the Forza) from Iowa to Oregon. Only it failed miserably and none of that happened. Now 5-years later they still are not delivering an all new Journey motorhome and WBGO lost more than $50 million on that boondoggle.

Your Sealant Guide, yes there is one of those, calls for Winnebago part number 094401-04-000. Which is Stone Mason Gutter and Siding Sealant only it’s not available in the US, just Canada. Go with what Litchsinn suggested they know all of this and what they say is correct. (Also, Henry’s makes that Canada only “ Stone Mason Gutter and Siding Sealant”)

Here’s a link to your Sealant Guide:

One other suggestion… some folks have had very good results using products from the Marine industry. It makes sense, both boat and RV sealants need to withstand sun, water and remain flexible. Both Sikaflex and 3M 5200 are routinely mentioned, but might be expensive.

I used Lexel recently on my roof edge, it stays flexible and is a strong adhesive, no problems so far.

Creative, if 3M is used, it MUST be 4200 (not 5200). 5200 has zero flex and will create a major (read hammer and chisel) mess. I detest silicone sealants, but in this instance (since there is too much flex for a polyurethane), I do use it. It seems to last 2-3 years and is easy to remove and reapply. I only use a top-of-the-line marine silicone. Warning: Once you use silicone, it is nearly impossible to switch to something else.

I just remembered that about 4-5 years ago I cleaned off the old joint sealant and applied Flex-Seal white sealant to both side of my MH. So far it still looks great.

Thanks for that Max. I wasn’t aware that 5200 did not flex. When I had a sailboat I used 5200 on my port lights without any issues.

I assume Sikaflex remains flexible, hence the name.
