2014 Journey Closet rod

Well hear we are on our 3rd trip in our new coach and sad to say another design failure from Winnebago. At least I call it a design failure as the center of the rod is supported by a bracket that has 4 #10 screws that hold it into the celling of the closet. All four screws pulled out and the rod was sagging so when we took all our hanging close out I saw the problem. I moved the bracket a few inches and put the screws back in and took a spring rod, like for a shower curtian, and ran it from the floor of the closet to the flange around the bracket and tightened it up. I never had a problem in my 2000 Horizon after 13 years of service hauling the same load of clothes. So if you have a new Journey you may want to keep an eye out for the same thing.

If it was mine, I'd spend just a little time at the dealer and let him come up with a solution. Should that fail, I'd buy a nice clean 1X3, stain it red-brown, cut a 'vee' in the top and slide it into place. Betcha it lasts forever, and it'll be "case closed".

Thanks for the heads up. I just checked ours and still solid, but will keep an eye on it from time to time.

Don't think that was the problem

Like I said I never had a problem with my 2000 Horizon after 13 years hauling the same load. Maybe the screws were just over tightened at the factory and stripped out so they didn't hold.

I have a 2013 Journey. 11,000+ miles and we took 3 trips this year with four of us, and most of our clothes on hangers, no problems. I will however keep an eye out for potential probs in this area. Thanks for posting.
