Does anyone know of a way to get the headlights brighter?
Any kind of replacement ?
I can't get the low beams to give enough light to see clear,I can turn on bright's but can't leave them on all the time.
There has to be a better solution to the lighting.
Search here at irv2.com for dim headlights. You'll find that Ford F53 chassis are poorly wired. Adding some direct wiring and relays will greatly improve the brightness of you lights. It's important to aim them properly too.
I purchased new brighter bulbs from a parts store. They had three or four levels of brightness, read more expensive, but one of my bulbs did not work so bought a pair of brighter ones. About $37 if I remember correctly. Yes they made a difference.
I had fitted driving lights earlier which fix the hi beam issue, but the new bulbs are an improvement on low beam.

Can you tell me what parts store or part number, don't really care on cost so long as I get better driving lights.Need to see better going down highway.
Sorry I ca not remember. I was traveling cross country and when I noticed a lamp out I stopped at the next parts store. Since then I have noticed several places have the brighter lamps. Suggest you pull a bulb and tack it into your local Pep Boys, or who ever is near you. You are not supposed to touch the glass part of the bulb but after 40 years of being a mechanic and seeing customers do all sorts of things with them I would not panic too much.

Thanks Peter 27C,I also did a few years as an auto mechanic.
Always told people you can touch the bulb to replace it but WIPE IT OFF WITH A CLOTH to remove the "oils" from your hand.
Will did a check on the bulbs as I head out to Florida then to Calif.,should find a Pep Boys along the way.
Thanks Again for the reply.
