2013 Via error codes
Hello,
New to the forum.
I recently bought a 2013 Via with a little under 10,000 miles. While bringing it home, after about 1.5 hours of steady driving, it stated to run a little rough, the power decreased, and the check engine Iight came on, steady. I pulled over and sat, motor off, for about 15 mins. Dealer advised to take to nearest auto parts and get them to run codes. Nearest place was about 30 mins. away. It ran fine.
Codes as follows:
P068A ECE/PCM power relay de-energized performance - too early
PO273 Cylinder 5 injector low
P204F
PO273 Cylinder 5 injector low
About a month later, had an almost carbon copy occurrence. Drive app. 1.5 hours, runs a little rough, check engine lIght on. Stop awhile, then it runs fine.
Any advice/suggestions/comments are appreciated.
Also, I thought the next maintenance interval would be at 20,000, but the dash readout says it will be due at 15,000.
Thanks!
Dan

Sprinter Source- https://sprinter-source.com/forums/index.php is the source of all knowledge for Mercedes Sprinters. Post on the NCV3 Talk section which covers your chassis.

Thanks for your reply. I will check it out. Can you please tell me what NCV3 is? Code for that chassis?
Thanks again.

I did a Google search for your question. Here's the best response:

Thank you for your reply. I checked it out. I posted my original question (about error codes) to the forum that David M so graciously provided. 10 days later, there is still no reply on that forum, nor to OBDcodes.com, where I also posted.

Still 0 replies from sprinter-source forum and OBDcodes.com. Anyone have any suggestions for other places where one might actually get questions answered? Thanks.

I had a 2011 Reyo which had the CEL come on a few times. My experience is that a OBD2 code reader will not help you much. I ended up taking the Reyo to an independent shop which specializes in MB Sprinters and they fixed my issues on the first try.
You to find a shop that has a Mercedes compatible scanner and Mercedes software otherwise it will be a guessing game and you might pay for unnecessary parts due to trial and error diagnosis. Sprinter RVs are very expensive to work on, I paid 1200.00 for two NOX sensors replacement and the necessary adaptation (MB software needed).
As far as maintenance intervals, they are mileage or time based, whatever comes first, usually time for an RV.

71 340:
On your NOX repair, did that cause a CEL? Did other CELS require repairs?

generated a code
Yes, the NOX sensor fault set a code and illuminated the CEL. I didn't have any other engine emission related issues. I have since traded for a new RV (also Sprinter based).
I had many diesel powered vehicles since the 70's. Back then you can let a diesel idle for extended periods and no harm was done (no emission system). Times have changed since 2007 with the introduction of emission system.
When I drive my RV or truck (2021 GMC Sierra Duramax 3.0) I will always drive long enough for the engine to reach full operating temperature. That and working them keeps the engines happy and clean.

Dan, where are you located? Here in Ft. Lauderdale I have found an independant Sprinter only repair shop. The owner is Germany/Polish and only works on Sprinters. Does good work. I also bought a Scangauge II. I have also printed out all 72 pages of codes that I keep in the RV( thank god my printer prints on both sides) just in case.

Hot Springs, AR. The codes don't do me much good if they don't tell me more about the problem. I don't know if those codes I got indicate DEF, injector, or something else. Since I got a low DEF msg earlier in the day, I'm hoping it was prompted by that. If anyone knows, they aren't chiming in.

Unknown for sure. I added STP injector cleaner to the current tank, and hope codes were prompted from maybe sitting/disuse, and that use/cleaning will help.

Was that injector cleaner specifically made for Diesel engines? I hope so.
