2011 Via 25q awning really slow-normal?

The awning works but is very slow to open and close. We don't know is this is normal or if the motor is getting ready to quit. Also, if the motor does quit with the awning open is there a manual way to close it?

Thank you for your help.

I have a brand new Carefree awning. I just checked the speed of it, which is slower than the last one I had. To open the awning about 3 feet takes 5 or 6 seconds.

Thank you! That speed seems to be about what ours is, have to time it next time we open it. We thought it might be slow because it comes straight out, other awning we have had come out at an angle.

The manual mentions how many seconds it should take, I remember reading it and timing mine. If you don't have the manual in your big black Winnebago bag of paperwork I will go get mine and look it up. I still am not sure if our Via awnings have the rain tip feature but if they do I heard that the awning should be extended about 2 feet, then pause then finish extending. The reason is to give the gas shocks in the arms time to expand.

Thank you bigb, you are a big source of info! I will check in my manual and see about the timing. I am not sure about the rain tip feature but I don't think it has it. I will try the 2ft idea though seems like a good idea. How many seconds did your awning take to open?

Here you go, mine was right in the spec at about 30 seconds. There is a section in the Supplement book about the awning (I recommend putting easy reference tabs on your book, saves a ton of time) plus my package has an additional printout which I included in the pdf. Note that the pitch of the awning is adjustable, you stated yours was straight out but mine has quite an angle so apparently you can adjust the angle per the instructions. It also says we have the auto dump feature for rain but I haven't had a chance to check that out. As far as emergency retraction it looks like only if there is a problem with the switch, wiring or power source, it looks like you need the motor to wind it up in any case. I will try and attach the pdf in the next post.

OMG! Thank you! I can't believe I missed that whole section in the manual. I went back and looked for it and there it was. It is cool now though that I have it in my Google cloud and handy anytime I need it. I made a folder for our Skinny Winnie and put it in there. We both do so appreciate all the time and energy you have devoted to helping us. And you are right there don't seem to be many of us out there with the 25q but it is perfect for us!
