2011 Tour QD - What are these for?

In our 2011 Tour QD we have 4 of these, at the same level as the upper cabinets. 2 directly behind the cockpit and another 2 between the living area and the kitchen.

They look like speakers but they produce no sound. In fact the ones between the living area and the kitchen have round speakers mounted on the bottom.

Were these just space for an option not ordered on this unit or do they have a different purpose?

I was kind of hoping my description was so good, photos would not be necessary.

These are the ones between the living area and the kitchen.

On my Adventurer those are speakers for the DVD's surround sound system. I have 3 of those speaker panels on the passenger side over the Rest Easy sofa. There are three more speakers mounted on the ceiling on the drivers side over the TV on my Winnie and then a subwoofer mounted low on the back side of the kitchen sink cabinet.

On my RV the surround sound (LG) DVD/Amplifier has 6 channels plus a subwoofer. Front left and right and Center. Real left and right and center.

When watching a surround sound DVD all the speakers are active. When listening to the dash radio only the two speakers under the windshield cabinets and two of the passenger (left and right) side speakers are active.

You might try turning on the 'Speaker' switch over the entrance door, since that seems to supply power to the sound system amplifier.

Whats weird, is the drawings show speaker brackets behind those, but only in the two on the curb side. The are the same brackets, but oriented 90 degrees differently in each of the two cabinets.

We're trying to learn the coach in order of importance, have never tried a DVD yet. Thanks for the info, will give try a DVD next month we are re-united with the coach.

Thanks, I have a thread going on another forum asking about the purpose of the speaker switch as well as the accent switch over the entrance door. Another one off the list.

One day maybe I will know what everything on this coach does, but I doubt it.

In our 2014 Journey, the accent switch toggles a rope string light that lies on top of the cabinets around the cockpit.
