2011 Meridian 40U

This caution may apply to other units with a kitchen slide. I could smell something electrical under the sink cabinet. The breaker had tripped for the kitchen outlets and would not reset (Continued to trip)
When we got home I removed the floor of the kitchen cabinet, nearest the end of the slide. Sink drain was catching on the aluminum edge of the slide seal. One of the power cords had been almost completely cut (Frayed) in two pieces.
These 2 cords are 3 conductor heavy rubber cords. Both had numerous cuts over about 14" of the cords, near where they go under the wall and slide in and out. The aluminum seal piece was bent and the cable that failed was wedged under this aluminum piece. The cure after splicing the wire. Then straigtening out the twisted mess of wires and water lines under this area.
When factory installed no attention was given to how the wires were routed. I needed to disconnect the water lines to untangle them from the electric cords.
Where the wires and drain lines were rubbing and cutting, I covered this area with a piece of galvanized steel That was bent and screwed in place to cover this area, and create a smooth surface for the drain and wires to pass. A lot of work, but now everything works smoothly.
I think we were lucky that no fire started.

Pics of the actual area where the wire/drain ran would be helpful for those of us with 40U's, Thanks.

Sorry no photo

After 2 days resolving the problem I closed the area up. I made it as clear as I could. Remove the floor of the cabinet, closest to the end of the slide where the sink is. You can then examine all the wires (Cords) in the ares where they pass from the slide to the coach body. This inspection could save you from a fire in the future.

Thanks for freaking my wife out. :-)

So we spent some time looking at the area today. Ours looked ok and I didn't see anything of concern considering the number of times our kitchen has gone in and out.

These photos are with our kitchen slide out...

In the middle of the photo you can see the roller that pushes the plumbing and wires to the right as the slide out comes in.

There is another roller on the other side of that slot that pushes the plumbing and wires to the left as the slide out goes out.

Seeing the pictures now, it looks like the near roller should have been flipped over with the wheel pointing in, not out, so that it would contact the plumbing first. The clean spot on the wires is where I touched it to see if it was being cut.

Already closed up the cabinet area, so too late to flip it.

Your transition area looks clean next to the way mine was. The rollers you have on either side of the opening do not exist on mine. Looking into the opening - On the left side is where I had to install a "Skid Plate" to allow the drain and electric cords to move smoothly and not get snagged. The only roller I had was on the front edge of the cabinet and nothing ever touched it.
Mine is the 2011 meridian and your the 2011 elipse and totally different.

Sounds like in the build someone just screwed up and missed putting in the rollers.
