Just ordered a 2008 Ellipse 40FD and am wondering if anyone with the new Maxum Chassis
is carrying a spare tire. If so where ?

Feedback is much appreciated

Welcome Applejack to irv2 and Winnebago forum.
Congrats on to be new coach.
Most newer coachs do not have spare tires because of cost and weight.
Your Dealer should be able to tell you this or a option list may help also.
Enjoy the forums and do post often.

Welcome to the forum . Congrats on the new rig and be sure and come back and share your RV experiences with us Winne folks!

I doubt the rig will come with a spare but you can always put an unmounted spare in one of those great pass thru compartments on that Maxxum.

Somewhere in this forum is a way to mount tire between frame rails just in front of rear axle. Try search, JG

Applejack, welcome to the forum.com. I do not carry a spare; instead I carry road side assistance. In the six years we have been full time RVing we have only had one tire issue. I am afraid that unless I hit something in the road that the tire would deteriorate before I had a need to use it. Even then I could not change it. I would have to have a large rig tire store do it since the lugs are torqued to 500 ft./lbs. Good luck and enjoy the website and forums.

Same here as Mike and Amy - probably most of us don't carry a spare - instead we're quite comfortable just carrying a cell phone and a credit card. (We have Coach Net roadside service.)

Agree that the ERS is necessary. I do carry an unmounted spare primarily because I had the tire and I am currently able to commit the space in a compartment for it. My thinking was if I had a flat and needed a new tire, I might be able to get going more quickly if I didn't have to wait a day or more for a new tire. It took the dealer 4 days to get my G670's.

If I am lucky enough to still be able to RV when I retire, I will jettison that spare. For now, minimizing downtime on a trip is paramount for me.
