2008 Journey/Meridian 39Z
Owners, please tell me about your 39z! DW and I have been looking at upgrades for our 36G, and realized the 39Z model, 2008 specifically, has much of what we would like to do to ours. Issues? Likes? Dislikes?

Looks like some of the 2009 models had the "euro" styling as well.

I've not had mine long, bought in April. So far I've been very happy with it. Love the layout and haven't found many that I like better. Bath and a half would be nice but not necessary. I've had a handful of issue to work out, nothing major, mostly maintenance previous owner let go of.

Thanks Nate. We've just started considering the idea, but those two years, in that floorplan, appeal to us.

We have had a 2009 Journey 39Z since 2010. We love the floor plan and the coach works extremely well when travelling without opening the slides. The 08 model had the Euro cabinets which we disliked. Our 09 has clear maple solid doors and maple cabinetry. Makes the coach very bright inside. Have added a Res Fridge, MCD shades and LED light fixtures. The use of space is excellent and we have a Rest Easy sofa and theatre seats. If you like the floor plan, go for it!

Bob, what did you NOT like about the Euro cabinets? That's the whole reason we are looking at those two model years!

Wait a minute...you mean the step well cover is manual? Even our 2004 has an electric step well cover.

Are the slides a problem. My 03 Journey has hwh slides and some where along the line Winnie went to electric slides for a while that were a total bust on some models.
Just a thinking point.

Have had absolutely no problems with the PowerGear electric slides. Did have a support issue with the center support roller on the large slide. It was not strong enough for the weight and the supporting bolt repeatedly fractured. Winn eventually -on the third failure- replaced the roller assembly with a heavier one.
My point with respect to the slides when travelling was there is really no need to open them in a Walmart as almost everything can be reached and movement about is relatively easy.

Best motorhome yet
Our 2008 Journey 39z is our favorite so far. Others kept pushing us to Tiffin Phaeton but we didn't like the floor plans, or cost. We've had ours about 3 years, with minor issues, one being the dash air not cold. It has tons of in/out storage. We like the exterior cherry color scheme. Previous owner ordered all the options on furniture and my wife likes the galley equipment and cabinets. We have no problem with towing. So far, no problem with replacement parts through Winnebago, unlike our last Fleetwood.
