Just found out how much I like my 36G. 36G layout does alot things well, wonder why they ditched it. On the 37H I dislike slides on both sides, kitchen looks like it lacks flip upcounter section. I have single Euro chair, double Euro chairs look like a tight fit.

And the base price changed from $165K to $216K in one model year. Now I understand the Destination pricing. A 2007 Journey 36SE at $165K retail, $125 drive away seems like a bargain.

Wel lookie there. The 34H has gone the way of the 32T. Sometimes the world can't use bigger, but it's obviously market driven. I though the #$H was a good seller.

It now looks like the smallest DP you can get is a 37'. Too bad, we really love the 32T, and is the whole reason we bought an Itasca. For some folks, bigger is not better. For the wife and I, the 32 is perfect. We will start to fulltime in it in about July of next year.

We just changed out the Easy Rest sofa for two Euro Recliners, an option that is available in the 08' model year. I thought that Winnie would bring the 32' chassis back in a FRED chassis. It doesn't look like that has occurred though.

I too am disappointed in Winnie in dumping the 34' and 36' floorplans. We enjoy camping in State parks, which are many times a challenge getting the larger rigs in there. A lot of people want a shorter DP, which Winnie used to provide.

Not to mention the increase in base price as others have noted. Wow!!

Winnebago -- are you listening?? Are you listening to the Voice of the Customer?? This customer is not happy with your path forward.

Notice all the new models now have a one piece windshield. I wonder if winne was going to eliminate the journey/meridian model and in its place came the Destination. I noticed that you can get the workhorse or the freigtliner chasis w/diesel on this new model. I do like the increase capacity of waste water.

Do we suppose that this big jump is due to the ULSD engine that everyone was warning about?

If this was the offering when I bought mine it wouldn't be Meridian. I bought the length, the positioning of curbside windows, street slides, AND the lower profile. Oh well.. Apparently they're going after a different market.

I agree with SCVJeff's comments. And throw in choice of engine brand; Cat versus Cummins. My idea of market direction is 180 degrees different from Winne.

I doubt it was the ULSD engine. I had a 2004.5 Dodge Ram diesel with the ULSD engine and common rail fuel system. No difference really in the 04.5 and the 06' that I have now. The 07' year stepped up another rung on the emissions ladder, but that is what inspired the Cummins 6.7 liter that came out this year.

The new USLD has less energy to provide per burn, so the additional cylinder space is needed to maintain the same power and torque.

The size difference is Winnie's belief that bigger must me better. I disagree.........

I agree with Teekay on the direction Winnie is taking on the larger M/H's. My wife and I do not want a longer M/H with the advent of multiple slides, it just isn't needed for the average traveler. Full timers should have that option probably.

I too am disappointed by what I see on the Winnebago website about the 2008 Journey. For me, the worst part is putting the TV in a cabinet behind the table. It just seems a long way from the couch and chair. Also, the couch is pointed at least 90 degrees away from the TV. I don't think that would be very comfortable. I didn't like that about the Adventurer 37B, but at least the front overhead TV was an option for 2007. Even that has been taken away for 2008. Oh well, we will continue to enjoy our 2002.

I'm just curious.What other brands continue to offer the diesel chassis in less than 36' floorplans? Is it possible that Winnebago and maybe others "think" that there is very little demand now for the shorter plans in diesel. I wonder if their marketing surveys have determined lesser demand now. Are we going for "bigger and better"?

Well...since you asked - Newmar offers 2 33' floorplans on the Ventana model. They have a 190" WB on a Spartan chassis.
