2007 Journey 34h

What does it mean "SE" badge on '07 Journey 34h? 2007 Winnebago Journey 34h SE...

Here's a link to a discussion of the SE version of the 2007 Meridian with an explanation of the SE designation. Basically it's a basic, less costly version:

2007 meridian SE

If you're looking at a potential purchase, it should be at a lower price than the non-SE but, as the above discussion indicates, the NADA guides may not differentiate. I couldn't find a side-by-side comparison highlighting the differences and the brochure is silent on this issue.

I see that i was the second commenter back then. That discussion was for the Meridian that only came one way: Loaded... the SE was a stripped down version to try and compete with the Journey that you could equip it pettymuch any way you wanted to hit the checkboxes on the order form. What you get with an SE Journey since it could be ordered item by item anyway, I’m not sure..

Cannot speak to Meridian, can speak to Journey SE. When we bought ours (from the original owner) she did not know either. She bought it off the lot. She said it was equipped with everything she wanted and the paint job reminded her of the Marines. (Did not explore that comment)

People on the road kept asking us. We searched on line -- there is a lesson in futility! Spoke with folks at La Mesa -- authorized dealer -- they said that a few every year have a few interior differences and an outside color scheme difference and are badged "SE" meaning special edition.

Gave up and called Winnebago. La Mesa was close to the mark. Biggest difference is outside paint. Usually a simpler, less busy look. What details are there, are decals vs paint. Customer cost advantage there.

From there, it is standard throughout with a couple of options thrown in. In our case, those options are front door manual awning, front protective mask, air horns, leather seats, 2000W inverter vs 600W, three 12V deep cycle coach batteries vs 2, sleep number mattress and four door fridge. That all adds up to most available options as opposed to "a couple". I was told that SE's are usually spec built rather than ordered.

My two cents. You can compare our exterior color scheme below, with the four schemes called out in the 2007 brochure to see the difference.

A thought. Since we stripped all the original decals off and had them painted back on, effectively giving us a full body paint job, are we still an "SE"? Click image for larger version

Curious what engine you ended up with?

My neighbors SE had an ISB, I THINK an Allison 2000 trans, and all cloth rather than leather. Thats what actuslly sold them since they had 3 kids and 2 dogs

Well, we are going over to Texas this week to pick up the RV...(We live in south central New Mexico) Our 34h SE has a 300 Cummins with 2500 Allison five speed trans. Only 6K miles on a 2007 model! I hope it will have enough power for us....

When you pick her up, post some pics. Since we will be running the same rig, and I have chimed in on both threads you've started on the subject, curiosity knows no bounds!

You've got a hill or two over in your part of the world, and we have climbed into Cloudcroft twice. And we run the NM 90/180 up past Luna a couple of times a year. As I stated in your other thread, our Cummins 5.9L 300HP with Allison 2500 towing either our Ranger King Cab or our Camry XLE has given us good service. And economical compared to my brother-in-law's Simba with a big Cat.

We looked very hard at the SE versions of the Journey and Meridian back in the day. The "Special Edition" appeared to be a slightly less equipped version than the regular Journey and Meridian models.

Seems that exterior paint was not as decorative as the regular models. They didn't come with the defrost fans inside the windows, the front shade was a less expensive version, the engine/transmission combo was 300hp vs the standard 350hp. Oh, and the wheels were steel wheels, rather than the alloy wheels of the standard models. And a few other minor differences that I sort of remember.

None of which really affected the usability of the RV, and many could have been changed out by the dealer at delivery time. I remember being told, it was a bit lower cost unit, that the factory produced to get a standardized unit out to dealers that had last minute sales to make, and couldn't wait for custom orders.

True or not, that's what I remember from 10 years ago. And then in 2010 & 2011 they had the "Express" Journey and the series "V" Meridian that filled that niche, even though there wasn't an exact match of regular models. I ended up getting the Journey 39n Express, because of the floor plan, more than anything else. And very happy with it after 8 plus years of full timing.

2007 Journey SE 300 Cummins

Well we got the rig home and it seems to have enough power for the mountain driving...we got 8.2 MPG towing our 2015 Forester and encountering stiff head winds most of the way home...I am satisfied with the way it drives and like to think the MPG will go up as we put miles on it. (only has 6700 miles now)

Nice, Buford! We are almost twins! In all our travels since we bought ours, we've only seen one other in our livery. You make three.
