2006 Vectra Hot Water Heater

My water heater just started whining while the hot water is being used. Used the pressure relief valve to make certain that there was no air. It works fine and it's not leaking.
Please help; it's driving my wife crazy! (so I need to get this resolved)

Bob

Also, it is way too hot! Adjustment?

You have one or more bad check valves that will have to be changed out. I had the same problem on my 2008 Tour.

Thanks for the reply. Where are the check valves located? Are they a part of the hot water heater unit or in the plumbing?

Do you know of a temperature adjustment?

Thanks, Bob

There is supposed to be air in the top of the heater heater tank....(that "head of air" allows for expansion as the water heats).

1.) Turn your WH OFF,
2.) Drain the tank,
3.) Refill it, (with the P&T relief valve closed), to re-establish the necessary/required "head of air"
3.) Re-light it and allow it to heat the water

The check valves are added by Winnebago, and are attached to the inlet and outlet connections on the back of the water heater. Easy to fix if you have access to the back. I just removed them, took out the plastic parts and re-installed with out the check valves.

There is no temperature adjustment that i am aware of.

If your heater has a mixing valve attached, they have been known to go bad.

Dan and Sharon,

Thanks for the reply, I will look at the back of the WH tomorrow.

Some friends of our took us to 'The Dam Bar' while in Mesquite as well as a local cemetery.
