You may want to check your owner's manual and talk to a dealer on this one but we have camped in below freezing weather and not had a problem. However I believe this only works as long as you are using the furnace and not the heat pumps as the heat pumps use the air ducts in the ceiling to distribute the heat and the furnace uses the ducts under the floor and thus keeps your under the floor tanks from freezing up- but only down to a certain point. We've had it drop into the 20s at night with no problem except for our water hoses outside to the faucet! It seems to me I have read in this forum of some members who have been ok into the 10s but again check with people that should know for sure before trying it.

On our Horizon, only the propane furnace will warm the basement compartments. We just went through about three or four days of continuous below freezing weather with lows in the mid-20s and we needed to put a 100 watt drop lamp in the plumbing bay to keep it above freezing. Strangly, 75 watts wasn't enough heat. If you camped in really cold weather, you would need a small heater for the plumbing bay

Thanks to everyone for their input. We are chomping at the bit to try our new(used) rig if the weather in KC Mo would just cooperate.

We have a Voyage...and supposedly has "heated tank area", but we also use a drop light in the sewer and water areas as a precaution.

I think what I might do to test the heating potential is to put a thermostat in the main coach area and a remote sensor in some of the compartments when we are at home and start the gen and run the furnance to see if the tank area and others are being heated.....I wouldn't think it would take to long to find out..

On a trip to Maggie Valley over the holidays it hit 17 degrees and we were using the main gas heater and had no problem with the tanks. I used an infared temp gun and the tanks never got below 48.

We did Denver in early December. Evening temps down to 8 degrees but the daytime rose to mid 30s. Our heat pumps don't work below the mid 30s and the gas heat starts automaticly if temp falls 5 degrees below that set. Using night time setting of 64 degrees worked fine and we had no freeze problems for the 3 days of snow and low temps.

Right after we got our Winnie Voyage a couple of weeks ago, I tried the heat pumps but only got cool air from the ceiling vents. It was in the 20's so from reading other posts, it was probably to cold outside for them to work efficiently. Couldn't tell if the furnance came on to takeover, but when this happens, does the heatpump side shutdown and quit blowing air from the ceiling vents???????????
