2004 Itasca Suncruiser

We will be taking ownership of a 2004 Itasca Suncruiser in the next week and I'm also purchasing a tow dolly for it which had a six pin interconnect installed on it. What can I expect to find on the motorhome...small six pin, large round seven pin, or a flat pin - is their a standard fitting?

My user manual is in the MH and I don't have access to it right now. I BELIEVE it is 7 pin. I know when I had the toad wired they said it wasn't a configuration that they see a lot.... I can look tomorrow and post back, unless someone else knows for sure..

It has a small round 6 pin connector. I changed mine on our '04 to the more standard 7 pin to tow my trailers. I added the wire for electric brakes when I did that. Just had to run 5 or 6 feet of wire to where Ford ended the wiring harness which had the standard blue brake wire in it. Plugged in my brake controller in the dash and I was all set.

Oh yeah, congrats! What floorplan is it? About a 50% chance it's a 35U?

You got it...a 35U. It would be interesting to know how many of these they made vs. the 33 or any of the larger.

We have a 2004 33V and whn we got i, it had no hookup at all as the previous owner had removed his towbar and took all of the wiring for some reason. We had to rewire it all for our towbar. You can look it up in the parts manual on the internet though. If it is used, it was probably changed anyway as the 7th pin is used for the ontoad braking system.

My '02 came standard with a round 6 pin. Works great for towing my Explorer.

Hi Ho: Which connector you use is really up to you. You need at most 5 pins (ground, rt. turn, left turn, driving lights, and brake controller). The brake lights are the same as the turn signals. So no matter what is on the toad just use what is already on the motorhome. We have three other trailers with the small 6 pin, so that was a no brainer.

Good luck with the 35U. We sure like ours.
