2003 Journey DL 330 Belt question
Hi,
Just got back from Freightliner of Knoxville for a surge tank replacement $$$ ouch. When I was there I asked them to look at the belts and they recommended to replace 3 belts. I was under the impression there where only 2 on this engine but I could be wrong. Below is what they listed. Does anyone have a list of belts and part numbers for this engine handy? Cat 330 312E.
A/C Belt $85
Alternator Belt $54 Part #01-24730-004
Acc. (?) belt $48 - I assume this is the serpentine belt. Does that seem correct?
I didn't ask them much about the belts because it was a long day and I was just glad to get out of there. Service dept guys were not very friendly nor forthcoming with much information. Overall not a pleasant visit.
Thanks
Ben

I have a 330 HP CAT in my RV and it has only TWO belts. The serpentine belt runs the A/C and the alternator. The other belt runs the water pump. My computer is not bringing my file that has the belt numbers but if no one else provides them I'll give it another try.

Well,
Our '04 Itasca Horizon 36GD with the C-7 330 HP CAT also only runs two belts. I know 'cause I was just in there replacing the radiator, cleaning the CACm, replacing the serpentine belt and the Water pump belt and, as many of the bearings for those operations as I could get my hands on.
But, I'm no expert on the different year application of the 330 HP CAT. I hesitate to say that yours should be the same. You can maybe get a small camera or, inspection camera up in there to verify just how many you do have, then you'll know for sure. Let us know what you find out.

I don't know if this will help you but the extra serpentine belt I carry is a NAPA 25-080710 $57.49 and the water pump belt is a NAPA 25-9341 $16.99 You might be able to cross reference the numbers with CAT or other dealer or online.
These prices were in December 2010.

Thanks everyone!! I will double check my belts when I get a chance but I agree that I will probably only see 2.

Ben, because there are multiple places on the engine for the chassis manufacturers to mount the fan hub bearing; to center the fan to the radiator , you are always better off measure the serpentine belt; or get a number off the old one; for an exact fit to your unit .
The water pump belt , supplied by Cat with the engine, will be a good number.
