Mine will not switch from electric to gas when the temp/dewpoint drops. So it's a wakeup to freezing and turning the gas mode on. Has anyone found a solution for this problem?

A new True Air thermostat cured that same problem for me.

The AC/heat pump in mine does the same thing (ie: furnace does not automatically come on in temps below 40D F). After reading this "post" I am thinking that I mite want to purchase a new thermostat. Where does one find the thermostat to purchase?

check any RV repair shop or the camping world store and I think you will find it there.
and Finhawk you may not need to replace the controll board on yours the new themo might do the job for you.
with mne they replaced the controll board 1st and it did not fix the trouble thats when they put in the new themo and it start to work ok but because they put in both items on the same day I do not know if both had to be replaced or just one of them.
I have the good sams CSP and I only had to pay my upfront cost of 250.00 for this fix.
hope this helps

My new true air thermostat cost me like $115.
some 3 yrs. ago, from RVProducts.
I just read in the last mo. that someone had
bought one from RVProducts for $50. some.
Dont remember if this web site or the other.
Do a search, as $50. would be a fair price!!

There are 2 normal ways in which the heatpump will activate the gas heat.
-If the heat pump cannot maintain set temp, the gas will turn on. If this happens 3 times in a row the heat pump is locked out for 2 hrs. The gas will take over. In 2 hrs the heatpump will come on and if it can maintain the set temp, the 3 strike counter will reset, if not, another 2 hr lockout occurs. NOTE: This scenario assumes that the heatpump outdoor coil freeze sensor does not open)
-The second way the heat pump switches over to gas heat is when the outdoor coil freeze sensor opens. In this case the gas furnace will turn on if the indoor temp drops to 45 deg and turn off at 60. It appears in this case the thermostat settings are ignored. Manual says in this case user should select gas heat.
If the heat pump shut down due to the freeze sensor opening and the temp in the coach didn't go below 45, then maybe unit is operating within specs.

Call Tru-Air, explain the situation. If so, tell them you have the white thermo and you understand that the black one cures the problem and wonder why they didn't use the black or have a fix for the white one...You might be surprised as to what they will do. Good Luck
