Well, after experiencing loss of cooling on LP in our fridge on a recent trip We decided to replace the cooling unit with a helium charged cooling unit from "Cooling unit factory" We felt it was worth the extra money to get helium charging and reduce the chance of fire from a nitrogen charged cooler.
I followed the Youtube video and it went pretty well to do the install. The cooling unit cost $1265 plus shipping and the install kit was another $125.00 (two new fans, two new heating elements and a new burner orifice.) After getting the fridge out of the hole I found some pretty shoddy repair work had been done on our old unit (2007 Journey 34h) some time in the past.
The new unit cools well on LP or AC and I am very happy now! The first night I left the fridge on AC and it was 33 degrees in the morning (ten hours) the next night I left it on LP and it was also at 33 degrees and all this was on setting #5. I didn't mention that I lined the box with mylar faced foam board (Lowes hardware) with the shiney side in. I don't know how much difference this will make but it looks better!
I had a lot of support from Old China H
and (Terry) and others on this site and my thanks to all for the encouragement.
