We are very clost to ordering this. I drove one two weeks go and went over it closely, very impressed with fit and workmanship. Going from a DP back to a gasser is not to common and my DW thinks that I won't be happy but I am confident that I will be. The W-24 with Cummins 6 spd seems like a nice fit to me. I am a little curious about what gas milage a conservative driver can get pulling a 3300# toad? Guessing about 6.5. Thanks in advance, Russ

I get 6 mpg pulling the wrangler. I really enjoy mine.

I'm the same size and weight as the 38T. I've averaged 7.02 mpg over 6873 miles since new. I rarely exceed 65 mph. Fully loaded for a 5 month trip I weighted 22720#. I'm always towing and my Civic coupe weights ~2800#.

Do people really get 7-7.5mpg? I've tried driving at all different speeds on our 05 Adventurer 38J. I can get up to about 6.5 on level interstates at 55-60 with speed control and that's about tops. I'm towing a 06 Subaru Forester at a little over 3000#. People I've talked to personally say 6-6.5 is about right for this, but comming from my 93 Chieftain getting 8.5 towing, its a dissapoinment. I know my 3 slides add about 4000#'s, but i would have thought better technology would have balances this out.

You can do better than that and the after market might help you. See the UltraPower thread.

Can't vouch for the gas mileage, as we haven't checked it yet. Just wanted to say how much we love the floor plan in the 38T.

Our toad has a limit of 65MPH when being towed, so we haven't gone over that.

We have a 2005 Adventurer 38R. At 55 to 60mph pulling a Saturn Vue I can average 8mpg. Just pushed it last week from Tucson on LasVegas without toad at 65 to 70. Mpg dropped to about 5, uphill most of the way with cross wind. Won't do that again.

Approximately 10,800 miles driving from PA to west coast using mainly I-40 westbound and I-10 eastbound once3 we got far enough south. My spreadsheet came out with 7.1 mpg. Had the TOAD on for the whole trip and stayed at or under 65 mph.

So far we've driven 4,409.5 miles, used 617.78 gallons of gas for 7.13 mpg actual.

90% of the miles towing a Jeep Liberty 4 down. Seems like a lot of those miles were always into a head wind, lately.

I am supposed to pick up my new Adventurer 38T tomorrow or the next day. I traded in a '96 pusher, so I am curious about mileage too.

Just returned from a trip, Fla to Dallas TX & return. Averaged 7.17 mpg, using dash air about 6 hours and gen 1.5 hrs. Pretty close to Max Gross Weight. Cruising 68-74 mph on freeways.

I just drove my '07 Adventurer 38T home yesterday and all this info' is really helpful! Of course the "Low Fuel" light came on as I turned into my driveway (hope that was not a bad omen). We sure like the "front kitchen" lay out. Will do a mileage check in the near future!

We are averaging 6.9 miles to the gallon with a 4100lb toad (Nissan Frontier, manual) all four wheels down. Overall we are very pleased with the 38T and haven't found any hills that have been too tough on the East coast.

The layout is great on the 38T and that is what sold us, as well as the Winnebago name.

I finally got to make a trip in my new 38T and got 5.9mpg pulling a 2004 Silverado C/C. I set the cruise @ 60mph and enjoyed the ride. I did find a few things I am taking it in for on Monday. Does anyone have trouble keeping the shower door shut, while taking a shower? There doesn't seem to be anything set up to keep it closed.

Bob or Marilyn,

It keeps closed via magnets it looks like. Perhaps your magnet strip is faulty? We don't have any problems with the shower door. We did however have a problem with the drain pipe that is accessible below the shower. They installed a piece too short and it leaked after driving for a while. I had the dealer replace the pipe as he even said it was a joke. Other areas addressed for a heads-up:

Fireplace
Jacks - started to 'creep' when extended
Counter - one part cracked!
Slideout casket - they didn't glue the bottom edges
Batteries - 2 of them

Still got to get done:

Rusted CB antenna
Jacks - they don't stay up when driving and are too slow
Galley indicator - diplays full all the time
Rust - on stairs outside
Speaker - near entrance door on TV side

Retired 2001,

Doesn't your shower door have a little black locking knob which can be turned from inside the shower? That's almost a neccessity since it's easy to bump the door while showering and knock it open.

The shower has the black plastic knob on the outside to lock it while in motion, but nothing inside. The service tech. said the "magnet" was missing. I should find out this week (I hope). I'm ready to get it back on the road, maybe a trip to Galveston, to sit on the beach!
