02 Adventurer 32v vs 05 Sightseer 30b

I have my search narrowed down to two and would like some input. They both have less than 10k miles and are both priced midway on NADA values. I plan to offer closer to wholesale price and the Adventurer is on a ford chassis, the sightseer is on a workhorse. Any help would be appreciated.

The Sightseer is built on the discontinued P-32 Chassis with the 4-speed Chevy transmission. I would pass on it and go for the Ford.

I checked and the 05 sightseer says it's on a workhorse 8.1l vortec 340hp. Is this a P32 or a workhorse? The GCWR is 22,000, I don't know if it has the Allison or not.

The '05 most likely isn't on a W-22 chassis. It is on a P-32 Workhorse Chassis with the 4-speed Chevy transmission. It will have the 8.1 transmission.

Let us know if you see springs on the front end with air bags in them.....

The W-22 chassis has a GCWR of 26,000 lbs. The '05 30B wasn't ever built on a W-22.

I'm not sure about 2005, but the 2007 and 2008 Sightseer Workhorse 30b DOES NOT have an Allison transmission. It uses the GM 4-speed. I know as I almost bought the workhorse 30b and test drove one.

The 30B was built on a 18,000# GVWR chassis. I suspect it was a Workhorse W18. As FrontRanger stated it came with a 4 speed GM tranny.

I talked to Winnebago and they directed me to Workhorse which is open 24 hours! They asked me call back Saturday with the vin# and they could tell me which chassis it's on for sure.

If it is the 4-speed we will put an offer on the Adventurer which is on a Ford if it passes our inspection. I haven't seen it yet so I'll just have to cross my fingers it's as good as the pictures sent.

My money is on the Sightseer being on a pre-W18, P32 type, Workhorse. 18,000 pound GVWR and a 22,000 pound GCWR. W18's came out in '06 if I'm remembering right.

On the Adventurer. Where is it at? Perhaps someone here is nearby? (Sounds like you're a bit of a distance away?) Maybe someone here has even seen the coach? Might be able to confirm what it's really like. You never know.

This is correct. Our '05 Sightseer 30B was on the discontinued P-32. The W-18's first model year was 2006.

Either way, both the P-32 and the W-18 will only have the 4-speed Chevy transmission, and won't have the Allison.

The adventurer is about a 45 minute drive from my house in Vacaville and I've arranged to drive down tomorrow.

Is the P32 grossly underpowered, overweight, what? I've checked the workhorse discussion and there seems to be alot of people with rigs on this chassis. Not questioning anyone's opinion given so far, just want to know what I'm dealing with.

First motorhome looked great (05 30b) but the slide made a horrible grinding noise going in and out. We weren't concerned until my husband was checking other sites for motorhomes that evening and found several more being sold by this same couple???? Second motorhome (02 32v) was sitting out in a pasture and no one could drive it out for us to test drive so they gave the keys to my husband to have him drive it out!!! He did, we drove it, but that was a major red flag we couldn't ignore.

We are off to McClellan Air Force base this weekend as they are having an rv show out there.
