Wiring Harness to Nowhere

I had to replace the air pump unit for our Sleep Number Bed and made an interesting discovery. This was the first time I'd seen what's under the platform on the pedestal that holds the bed. Laying on the floor some distance from the pump was a coiled wiring harness which had 4 pairs of yellow and white, 16 gauge I think, wires. The harness came out of a hole just above the floor in the side wall which is at the head of the bed and led to a plug that wasn't connected to anything. Bundled with it using zip ties was a black cable with an RCA plug on the end. There was nothing in the area that any of these could plug into. We bought this Suncruiser 35A new in 2005 so it's not from some previous owner's project. Anybody know what the intended use of these might have been? Thanks.

Motorhomes are just like cars in that respect. If you look under the dash and hood of most cars, there will sometimes be several plugs just hanging. They are for some upgrade that you don't have installed.

Motorhome builders also use some universal wiring harnesses that can be used but don't have to be, again that option was not installed.

Look at your fuse block and see haw many unused spaces there is, same thing.

The wires should have identification numbers on them. You can download the 12 volt electrical diagram to find them or call Winnebago with the numbers and they will tell you.

It is probably for the optional bedside radio - power and speaker wires.

That's almost certainly for the bedside radio. If you look at page 4 of the Body, 12 Volt Wiring Diagram pdf at the bottom just right of center you'll see the plug for the radio. As also mentioned earlier, Winnebago does label their wiring every few inches--you can look up the label in the Wiring Identification Guide and see what each is for. If you look at page 4 of the Body, 12 Volt Wiring Installation pdf you can see where the radio and wiring go.

Dummy Me

I didn't even think to check out the wiring diagrams-I really hate the symptoms of getting older! But now that I have looked, it is indeed for a bedside radio. Thanks for the input.
