I like AGMs. They cost 2 or 3 times as much, but my experience suggest that their life expectancy is 2 or 3 times greater. I have 4 Cabelas, size 30.

The Cabelas size 30 are rated at 110 ampere hours each. I have 440 ampere hour capacity with two 150 solar panels. Because I only have a 1000 watt inverter, I cannot run large appliances like my microwave off the batteries. However, everything else works just fine. I camp off grid a lot and have 10 hours on my generator.

That sounds like the setup I'm shooting for.. I have a peak 3000 watts power inverter... Just like to have a setup so we won't have any problem with running things when we boonducking. Are your solar sufficient to support your 400 amh batteries...?

Fastwhls,
I use 2 lifeline 6v agm batteries mounted on their sides for a large increase in available amps without going over 50% discharge.
