2022 View - steps worked great for 4 weeks. Went in normal with door close - but noww will not extend. Power is there. Fuses and relay good. Step Light on - how to reset of diagnose the problem?
Hi Gary,
I took a look at page 12-9 of your Owner's Manual, and it might be that the control switch isn't fully in Automatic Mode:
• The red Activation Lever located on the entry step switch must be depressed in order to put the step switch in the ON position.
Hopefully, that is all that it is.
Welcome to the forum.
Thanks, Eagle5

Thanks Eagle 5 - My 24D View is only 2 months old so was not expecting this kind of trouble on such a common function as the steps.
The switch was working, breaker under right front seat good. Chassis battery fully charged. Also checked wiring harness and ground under steps and nothing loose.
My last resort was to remove power from the steps to see if the controller would reset. but decided not to do so with the connectors under the steps as the down and out movement is fast and could be dangerous working below there. So I pulled the Positive battery disconnect under the dash by the accelerator pedal. I waited 30 seconds and reconnected. I had also made sure the step switch was off.
With 12V chassis power back on I opened the door and the steps came out as normal. I opened and closed the door and played with the on/off switch multiple time. All seems to be working normally.
I am not aware of how the steps control unit is built but the total 12V power cycling did the reset.
Hi Gary,
I wonder if it is some sort of relay in the controller box which was sticky, or is some microchip needing a reboot? Hopefully, it will never happen again. Glad that you found it.
That's one small step for man - A giant leap for Gary
Thanks, Eagle5
