Victron smartphone app question

I had a Victron BMV-712 smart Battery Monitor installed in our RV and I downloaded and installed the associated smartphone app. The app seems to be working properly but I can never see any Trends because every time the phone screen shuts down and I reopen it the app does a BT connect and all previous information gets wiped out. The same thing seems to happen if I open a new app on the phone and the Victron app no longer is the top most app.

Is there any way to keep that information? I assume that since there is a Trends screen the graph should not disappear with every BT connect, but I can not find any way to prevent that from happening.

Trends are current trends. History is for past results.

Aren't you glad you didn't listen to me, now?

I missed the part about it going away when your phone screen shuts down.

I did a search and there seems to be a setting on iPhone and Android phones to tell your phone to not power save on specific apps.

I did a google search and found a couple of fixes. I don't know what phone you have but you might check how to limit this.

Here's one for Andriod I found:

Settings, apps & notifications, advanced, special app access, battery optimisation. If you're using an app like android auto, make sure you go to smart assist, power save manager and tick the ones you don't want to stop.

You put the link for the Android phone so, of course, I have an iPhone ...

I had an Android phone until about a week ago. The phone was OK but it would not talk to the info system in my RV and I had to keep a second phone only for that, and it was a pain, so I ended up inheriting an iPhone XR and that is what I am now using. And since I am familiar with Android phones I am still feeling my way around the iPhone so if you have the iPhone link I would appreciate it.

About what?

My wife tells me that I am not a very good listener, but I am not sure that she means it as a compliment.

I haven't found a good solution for iPhone yet.

Try a google search and see what you find.

Earlier today I had worked my way through the iPhone's Settings app checking each entry to see if it applied. The only entry that looked like it might work was the Background App Refresh but the Victron app is not listed as a possible user of that setting.

I just did a Google search and found entries pointing me to where I had been, but since the app does not show up there for me to change a setting I assume I can not use it.

Perhaps if I want to see a long term Trend graph I will need to carry that Android phone with me after all.

All wives say that about us. Probably true. I call it "selective hearing".

About adding all the micromanagement add ons to your battery upgrade project.
I suggested keeping it simple.
That's all.

I was a mathematician and computer software guy before I retired and I live for details and data - the more the better. It's a failing, but there it is - so I find the Victron information almost as interesting as the natural beauty outside the RV window. Well, perhaps not that interesting, but still interesting enough to keep me checking the display.

I was an I/T guy, too. That's exactly why I don't want to be an off grid power supply micro-manager. I dealt with far too many of them as managers during my career, to want to deal with them when I don't have to.
To each, his own, I guess.
Carry on.....
