Strong smell of gasoline when running onan

So I can smell gasoline when running my onan and there seems to be a leaky hose. I'm not sure if that's oil or gas leaking. The oil is at a good level. Do I need A tighter connector or new hose maybe?

I've not dug into my Onan just yet, but that looks like a breather hose and it appears to be leaking in that area, hose or maybe the gasket there. That might be your smell as it will burn a bit when hot and make the smell very noticeable.

Thanks I have cleaned it somewhat and the smell seems less. I also took out some oil and that seems to have helped. Though I still have it randomly stop after about 2 hours.

Hoses like the breather hose can deteriorate so that simply cleaning and re-attaching doesn't solve the problem. Your breather hose may need replacing. Also, a failed PCV valve can cause some of the symptoms you describe. A bad PCV valve can cause some of the problems you describe. Here's a link:

Also take a look at your air filter if any oil is ending in there.

My Onan generator was the same, smelled of gas while running. It was the fuel filter. The filter is a two piece metal can with one part crimped, or edge rolled, over a flange on the other piece. It was leaking around the crimp. So if your filter is same type check that out. Good luck.

If it smells like gasoline, it is gasoline ... not oil. If you can't see the leaking area, I would have a service place check it. Could be a connection ... could be a hose. Either is dangerous!
