Skylight problems

Hi there. We have a 2015 Winnie View with a large electric sun roof. It stopped opening a while back and my husband is just now looking for the problem. He thinks it’s in the transformer.( the motor still makes that awful grinding sound when activated.)
First, has anyone else had and fixed this problem and second, could a manual crank be installed instead?
Enquiring minds want to know.

It may not be this easy, but it's worth a try:

Sorry, but no real experience with the powered skylight, but maybe a thought to consider on what you have?

Just from what I have seen on other items, I might lean away from it being an electrical problem like a transformer, etc.

My thoughts fall along this line. When anything needs to move like this, there are switches to turn the power on and then various ways it gets to a motor which begins the mechanical part of moving things. The motor moves various levers and slides to get it moving.

So if you hear the grinding and noise from the motor, I would NOT think in the electrical as the motor is trying and showing it is getting the notice and power, just not getting the mechanical parts to move.

An "awful grinding noise" really makes me think of a gear with the teeth worn down and slipping that has totally eaten the teeth off so that all you get is the teeth grinding against each other.

Just have to admit this is pretty close to guesswork but that is what I find in other cases.
I would expect to find a manual operator to be difficult as it is likely to be a vary specific design.
Sorry, all I've got from here!

Yes, sometimes the only way to really figure it out is to take it apart and look!
Hopfully the skylight is not a terribly critical things or something so handy as the steps!

Best of luck and maybe others will show up with more hands on experience??
Nothing seems to show on the normal places I look for info like the parts here:
