Replacement Converter/Charger?

I have 2003 Winnebago Adventurer 35U on a Workhorse Chassis. I'm wondering about replacing the stock Converter/Charger (located under the drawer under the oven) with something a bit more robust but will fit in the same space. Any recommendations would be welcome! Thanks!

Scott

I have to recommend a Progress Dynamics PD 9260 (60 amp), 9280 or whatever higher amp you are looking for. They are small and the the best converter out there.

I've read about the Progressive Dynamics PD 9260 but I'm worried. The breaker in the motorhome for this circuit is 55amps. I'm also wondering if this is a drop-in replacement--size wise, it seems smaller by a lot.

It definitely will be fine size wise. Where is that 55 amp breaker? I don't have one on my rig.

If you meant 15 amp , the 9260 will be fine. The 9280 requires 20 amp.

The only breaker in a coach association with your converter is the 120v 15amp that feeds it. The converter is capable of 60amps of 12v output, if the coach ever demands it. The converter itself has fuses.

The only true drop in replacement would be an identical brand and model. My original converter was 4 times the size of my PD9245 and 8 times heavier. Just remove the old one and place the new in the same place, just use new screws to secure it to the floor or wherever the old one was. Smaller is better when replacing converters.

I replaced mine with the Progressive Dynamics Intelli-Power PD9245 with the built-in Charge Wizard and Remote Pendant, purchased from Amazon for $106. From my research on this forum and on others, it came out as the best choice for me. It has worked out great. It was easy to install, took about 10 minutes. I also have a '04 Adventurer.

Hmm... I was looking around, found a 50 amp breaker (not 55), but this morning, after looking more closely at the wiring diagram, I was wrong. Thanks for the help folks.

I think I was confused because the original converter/charger appears to be 45 amps. No problem.

Go to Best Converter web site.
You can find just the right replacement there.
They are very helpful.

I replaced mine from them.
