I'm still thinking of the turn signal switch in the column. My thinking is if it is some ground or wiring issue, it should feed current both ways; when you signal ether left or right turn. Causing cross-lighting of the bulbs ether way. Because it doesn't, I ask where can these connections intermittently connect? so that it only happens in one position setting. The only answer that comes to mind is that signal switch.

I'm still thinking it's the turn signal switch. My thinking is from the fact it only happens in one position setting. If this was wiring or ground; it should cause both lights to flash in ether left or right signaling. the path would always be there. The fact that it doesn't has me asking where do the pathways get switched open and closed? Only the turn signal switch meets the criterion of supplying power to the lines consistently, and intermittently, like you are experiencing.
