Radio sound stops when volume turned up.

Found this problem in a earlier thread but will not let me post, to old. I am hoping someone can point me in good direction. I am having a problem with losing the sound with my radio (2005 Sunrise Workhorse). I bought another radio that I thought fixed the problem until I turned the volume up (12 out of 40) and the sound went out again. I had just installed it so I checked the speaker plug on the back of the new radio and when plugging it back in, the sound came back. I have done this several times now, the sound will go out, but if I turn the volume down, unplug and plug it back in the sound comes back. I don't really like a loud radio but would at least like to get it over the road noise.. BTW outside radio works perfect.

Hi Wayne,
From what you describe, we can eliminate the radio as being the problem. It sounds like either a speaker wire or a speaker is shorting-out. Not enough to stop all sound, but enough to trip a self-resetting breaker within the radio when the volume is turned-up.
Can you just plug-in only the left or the right side wire & speaker? This will tell you which side has the short.
Good luck; Eagle5
