Here's a pic (sorry for the orientation) of our single din 5.1 replacement for the 1.5 din OEM Magnadyne. We consider it an upgrade. It does everything the OEM did plus has "handsfree", bluetooth this n that, and weighs a quarter of the OEM. Sounds great through our 5.1 surround sound.
Except for Magnadyne, 1.5 din units a scarce. Single din are common and feature laden. We ordered the 1.5 to single adapter from Magnadyne although Best Buy, Walmart online, Amazon and most radio install shops in town have them.
Since the old Magnadyne was tango uniform anyway, I cut the wiring plug off to install on the new radio. (Otherwise. you have to buy a vehicle specific wiring harness)
Our radio is SiriusXM ready, as are the radios in our other vehicles and home theater system, but I am to cheap to pop for four subscriptions, so I have installed docking kits in all. That is the dock just above the HVAC vents. We simply move the SiriusXM radio module from dock to dock. The dock plays the the radio's AUX input.
Replacing a dash radio is one of those projects that is scary in contemplation, but simple in execution.
