Quick inverter/generator question

Hi all,

We find ourselves in the position of having to temporarily store our 2014 Journey and use the inverter to keep the fridge running b/c we cannot plug it in to shore power.

Question, will setting up the genny to kick on once a day charge the inverter? How long should we run the genny to get a full charge on the inverter?

Thanks for any info you can share.

With absolutely no information about AH use or charger or battery bank size, I say 3 hours, during the hottest part of the day.

After a few days, you should see if its enough.

You should be able to set the generator to start at a certain battery level. That will keep them charged as they power the refrigerator.

XBoater,

From what I have read on this site, you set the start voltage but then need to input a run time for charging. Too short a time and it will keep starting and shutting down. A full charge, once a day is better then a few partial charges.

You charge the batteries.. If the inverter's charger module is proprly programmed six hours minimum will be needed.. If you have a residential I'd do that twice a day Morning and evening calculating so the genny shuts down at "Quite Hours" if shuch exist.

A residential fridge takes a whole lot of battery.

Just don't have your rv in a shop. Friend of mine rented out his building and saw smoke coming out of it, guy had his genny on auto start.

I got 685 watt of solar on my journey and it keeps the batteries charged and fridge running without hookups. If you do this a lot you might want to look into solar.
