Overhead light fixture

I ordered an overhead light fixture, Thin-Lite, to replace the one that the ballast had shorted out. The new one has two wires, one black and one white. The wires from the old one coming out of the ceiling are white and yellow. I'm assuming that I match the black wires up? Which one is the ground wire?

Thanks,

Ron

Best bet is to use a meter and verify polarity 12VDC, mark the wires positive and negative, then look at the instructions on the replacement and follow them for correct installation.

In my original post I should have said match the black and yellow up, thinking they should be the ground.

There were no instructions with the lite fixture, I'm assuming the black wire is the ground and the yellow wire is the ground?

Ron & Dee, if the white wire you are talking about is a Winnebago wire with a number then it is the negative and the yellow is the switched positive. On the fixture the black is Positive and the white is Negative.
So White to White and Yellow to Black.

Grant,

I didn't notice any number on the wire, so I guess I'll go with the white to white and yellow to black.

I don't know why the info that came with the light didn't have instructions. The only instructions that came with the lite was suggestions on battery power and light blubs. I will copy those and post here later.

Thanks,

Ron

Dont assume anything call the company that made the fixture and ask them the question

They told you how the fixture is set up. Why would they know what Winnebago, or any other manufacturer, did with the rig wiring?

Some people may already know this but I didn't.

"As the tube ends darken they put more stress on the inverter/ballast. If you replace tubes in a timely manner the inverter/ballast will last longer "

That very well could be what happened to my ballast when it shorted out and started smoking. I'm glad we were in the MH when that happened

Thanks,

Ron
