Hey Romer1, take your carb bowl off and see if the float is filling with gas, sounds like what my 94' Bounder w/7000 Onan did.....Also check the post that jrnutpaul started.....
Just heard from Onan, supposedly needs slip ring brushes, has a rusted governor linkage and needs a carb.
As posted on RV.net, guess I'm dense, but can't understand why it'll run for four hours traveling down highway, but only 10 minutes or so when stationary if it needs all those things. Told Onan to replace brushes only.
Just got a phone call from Onan. They replaced slip ring brushes, but told me not to run the generator until the carb is replaced because of excessively high voltage????? Make sense to anyone????
Would new brushes increase voltage?
Does anyone know of a carb rebuild kit vs new carb?
The governor linkage and carburator controls the generator engine RPM's. If the engine RPM's fluctuate, so does the voltage. This is not good for air conditioners and appliances. I would go for the new carburator unless you are real good at rebuilding old ones. It doesn't take much to ruin a rebuild and then your back to square one.
