ODB2 location removal and relocation

Thanks to you members I was able to locate my ODB2 plug. I have An 08 sightseer on a 07 ford chassis. The ODB2. Plug was attached to the right side of the steering column just up under the dash.

I used a 7mm deep socket to loosen the two bolts. It was easy to do even though I did it all by feel. I couldn’t see up there. Once loose they unscrew by hand (using just the socket). Once off the columns undo the tape holding the extra cable into a bundle.

I then used a 3/32 drill to put two pilot holes into the lower valance of the dash board. Then I used the original mounting screws to mount it in a convienient location. In the picture it looks like it might interfere with your leg by the throttle pedal but it doesn’t.

Easy peasy. Now I can put in my ODB2 reader and watch everything on my iPad

BTW, I’ve downloaded FORScan and a couple other apps for ODB2. ANYONE HAVE ANY ADVICE OR EXPERIENCE. oops. Ignore uppercase.

Thanks

Hummm. Netflix movies....

Just kidding.

The ODB11 allows you to read on-board computer inputs and outputs codes etc. If you have a “check engine “ light come on it’s through this port you would find out what is happening.

I understand that, I thought you were able to watch real-time inputs

I think

I think I should be. I tried it with an app called FORScan but I was in a hurry to depart with a group and stopped . Initially I found that FORScan wanted Bluetooth communication and my odb11 is wifi. I think that’s wrong but have not looked into it yet.

I have two other apps on my iPad that should also read the info. Below is an article on reading.
