No outlet power 2021 Micro Minnie 1808FBS

We just pulled into a campsite for the first time. Our battery is showing full power but the inside outlets have no power. We were told everything except the a/c would run off the battery but none of the outlets have power. The lights turn on but the fans won't run. We have a Winnebago Micro Minnie 1808 fbs 2021. Any ideas? Thanks.

Sorry, but you received bad information, your outlets won't work off the battery. You need to be plugged into shore power or a generator to have powered outlets. Another option would be to install an inverter, but that's a little more involved if you want to power you outlets.

Your bathroom vent fan and range hood vent fan should work off your battery.

Thanks for your quick reply! I guess we were told wrongly. So much for using our kettle and fan. Oh well. I guess we'll learn as we go along. We have been camping for 30+ years but in tents. We're used to roughing it. Lol

Always hate to hear of people given the wrong or just plain bad information. If it was a dealer... he lied. That's really not a big surprise. If it was a private seller perhaps he installed an inverter to make that possible??

It's most likely someone said that it was "possible" to activate the 110v outlets with an inverter and this info made it sound like it was a common fact. But whatever, no. Your 110v oultets work on shore power or generator power only. Your battery (or batteries if you have more than one) can provide only 12v to your specific 12v appliances.

This has nothing to do with your current post but, if, in the future, you may find outlets that aren't working while connected to shore power or generator power. In the vast majority of these cases, the culprit is a GFCI somewhere in the chain of outlets.

If you only have one, stock battery, you'll want to add a second battery. As a former tent camper, you'll probably do your share of boondocking and dry camping without shore power. When you do, think camping, not RVing, turn your lights off whenever you can, etc. Solar is also something to consider.

You will have a much enhanced camping experience if you spend about $250. Budget friendly short term solution.

First check what kind of battery you have. If it is a Marine Deep Cycle, replace it with a single 100amp hour AGM: $200. For the occasion when you’d like some 110vac power when you don’t have shore power, buy a 300w inverter brick that plugs into your cigarette lighter outlet: $45. It won’t run a coffee pot, electric kettle or hairdryer, but works for most other ac needs. Then you can splurge a bit and buy a regular kettle that you can heat on your propane stovetop. Make your coffee with a pour over, or French press.

If you have a marine deep cycle, you only have enough power for an overnight. Upgrading to 100ah battery can give you 2-3 nights if you use power conservatively. Just make sure your refrigerator is running on propane.
