Motorhome Trailer Harness

2003 Adventurer - Trying to setup Tow Dolly wiring. There are 5 wires coming to the 6 way vehicle connector - 4 are yellow and 1 white???? I have a 4-way trailer wishbone flat connector. At the vehicle connector using VOM I find the HOT wire (yellow) and the white wire is Ground. I can locate two of the remaining Yellow wires that pulse for the R and L turn signal. The remaining yellow wire appears to have 2. +/- V on the meter. I have set the configuration ????? Just trying to have tail lights, brake lights and turn signals on the trailer

THX for the link . . . . Guess I'm surprise that all of the wires are yellow. All the identifying #'s stamped on them are the same. Guessing I just attach the last yellow wire (source or purpose unknown) to the vehicle 6-way and not use it.

ezdavie-

Winnebago provides wiring diagrams and the secret decoder list at this link.

The particular diagram you want is sheet 5 of the 2003 Adventurer 35U "Auto Lamps Wiring Diagram," at this link. Use the secret decoder list to interpret the wire codes.

You need to know which chassis your coach uses. A diagram listed as "FD" is Ford, and one listed as "WH" is Workhorse (Chevy).

Haven't looked at the diagram but I believe the last wire might be for backup lights. Our MH has a 7 wire plug and brake controller installed. Previous owner said he never towed with it. I was blowing turn indicator/backup light fuse when the towed was hooked up. Same as yours, 1 white wire, 5 yellow, plus one from the brake controller. Several of the wires were in the wrong spot, backup light wire was connected where the ground should have been. Anyway, I think that's what your mystery wire is for and you really don't need it.

Got-er done!

On further investigation I discovered that the 4 yellow wires definitely were stamped with a diferent three character designation. These 3 letters corresponded and matched up with the appropriate pins on the connectors in the wiring diagrams. As usual "I" made this much more complicated that I needed to.
THX to all for your assistance.

Can't you just purchase an adaptor to go from the six-wire receptacle to a four-wire plug...?
