HGJAB with 1,425 hours on it Slow Stall

My 2001 Adventurer 35U has an HGJAB Spec A that slowly stalls when both AC Compressors are running or any appliance is turned on while one compressor is running or if you try to run the microwave with the AC off but the electric water heater running. It has had a bit of a raw gas smell making me hope it was simply Ethanol hanging up the float in the carburetor.

I removed, disassembled and thoroughly cleaned the carburetor but did not find any of the Ethanol issues that I was expecting and fuel flow was good. I replaced the fuel filter on the carb instead of using the bypass fitting now recommended by Onan and while it was a little better afterwards it still stalled.

The bad news came when I checked the spark plugs as the plug on the back cylinder was wet and fowled. I should have checked them first. New plugs did not help much except to make it take another 5/10 seconds to wind down and stall. The bowl on the carb is still full after it stalls.

I am supposing that the generator now needs to be removed to deal with the fowling of the back/right cylinder which I am hoping is just a failing coil but could be a cylinder or valve issue. To put this into perspective - 1,425 hours would be the equivalent of having about 70,000 to 80,000 miles on a small motorcycle (1,425 hrs X 55 mph = 78,375 miles).

Should I just set my mind to do a full ring set and valve service when I pull it or do these generally go much past 1,500 hours before needing that type of service. 80,000 miles is a lot of equivalent usage for a 13 hp 2 cylinder air cooled engine even if its a 650cc running at only 2,400 rpm.

Mine would be considered the 5.5 HGJAB-901 (912) by today's models since it has a 30Amp and a 20Amp breaker on it and not the two 30Amp breakers.

Not really looking forward to pulling a 288 lb generator.

Follow-up:

Just verified no spark at #2 spark plug lead however coil resistance reading appears to meet spec at 15,500 ohms positive ground. The range allowed in the manual is 11,500 to 27,000 for the right (No. 2) cylinder. Could it be that the coil gap has gotten too wide?

Can the cover to access the coils be opened without pulling the entire generator out?

I am a bit rusty at this.
