I've read about the weak sealed beam headlights on the Journey's (before they upgraded to better lights). On our most recent trip it was quite noticeable, even on high beam the lights are weak. I am due a Va. State inspection so will ask them to check the aim of the lights.

However, wondering if anyone has replaced the OEM sealed beams with Silverstar halogen sealed beams or something similar and noticed any difference??

A fellow member, Joe k, replaced his some time back with the Silverstar XV (extra vision) and has been very happy with them. His is the same year as yours.

You are on the right track to ensure the headlights are properly aimed before you do anything else. I had mine checked at a Winnie dealer who said they were fine. I didn't believe it and took it to a truck place and they found they were below the required lumens (VA specs). On further checking, determined they were aimed way off to one side. Their work helped, but I am still not convinced they are properly aimed. The high beams are great, but low beams don't seem to be aimed in the right place. Mine are not sealed beam, but have two bulbs in each housing. After a good bit of research I replaced my low beam bulbs with HIR bulbs (Halogen Infrared). They are pricey, but put out far more lumens than the OEM bulbs. Don't be concerned about the color of the beam (most "blue" bulbs aren't worth much as far as putting out more light) as much as the lumens or candle power they put out.

The Silverstar bulbs seem to be the replacement bulbs of choic.
Awhile back there was quite a discussion about the headlights on the Winnie's. If you do a search, I'll bet there is a lot of information on which type of bulbs to use. JIM

Just a hint about aiming headlights...
Take a good look in the daylight hours to find your headlight aiming screws (up/down and left/right). Then have the wife get in her car and follow you in the coach some evening. Go to the back or side of your local Wally Mart (or big box store) and point both vehicles at the wall. Stay back 50 or 60 feet from the wall. When you compare the light distribution of the car versus the coach, you'll clearly see how far off the coach lights were...

Thanks for all the suggestions. If these were headlights that used bulbs, I would just replace with Silverstar bulbs. I did that on two previous cars and they make a significant difference. I will plan to replace the sealed beam lights with Silverstar sealed beams as soon as I get the specs.
