Generator hour meter

My generator hour meter stopped working on my 1989 Superchief. How is this connected to the generator? Anyone know if there is a fuse inline? The switch inside does work to start and stop it and is illuminated when the generator is running.

Same here, I will post if I find something.

On my meter, there are 2 connectors on the backside and one had broken off. I held the connector in place and the meter does work so...

I heated the high temp glue gun, smeared some glue on the connector around the edges and (painfully) held the piece on until cool. So far it still clocks hours. I do think I will replace it if it acts up again, not that expensive.

If the connector still fit snug on that stud, it should work forever if left untouched.

I would have taken a bullet connector and sized it to fit the remaining stud, then crimped the wire in it.

The exposed 'stud' is a spring that slips over a very short stud way down inside the device. The other connector was barely hanging on also.

I couldn't tell it by the pics. When you get it out of the dash, maybe you could solder wires to the connectors and retain your current hours.

I'll assume your meter is up front with the remote start switch.

You should have a 4 wire connector at the genny that takes care of everything up front. When the genny is producing power, it sends 12v up one wire to power the meter.

Since you have elumination up front, I would say the meter is bad or bad connection on it. With voltmeter in hand, check the connection and be sure to use the same ground the meter uses. If you have power at the meter, then the meter is bad.
