Energy Management System

Need some help understanding the Energy Management System on my 2010 Winnebago Sightseer 37L. When I connect to regular 120 volt the EMS reads 50 amps. I am sure I do not have 50 amp service in my garage. All the 120 volt system's are working when connected. Is this just a default reading because its connected to household current? Any help is appreciated.

Are you using an adaptor? If not and your plug has four prongs you have 50 amps.

the EMS in our 30-amp 2000 Suncruiser has a 20-amp/30-amp switch. we select the proper setting to match the service we're connected to. does yours have something similar?

Mike In NY, The EMS detects a 50 amp connection by looking at the voltage difference between the two in coming power wires. If the difference between the two hots is 0 VAC it assumes both lines are the same. This is what the 50 amp to 30 amp pigtail does, ties the two hots together then you select 30, 20 or 15 amp service.
When connected to a true 50 amp service there will be 240 VAC difference between the two hots.
I assume you are plugging into a 120 vac 20 amp normal wall receptacle. Looks like attached picture.

Can you attach a picture of what you are seeing that shows 50 amps?

Do you have all circuit breakers on. The ems gives weird readings anytime you have a circuit breaker turned off.

Thanks for all the help. Recently found out that it was a faulty EMS, which was replaced under warranty.
Thanks to all.
