Try them in reverse gear, I think they should be on then.

Agree ... and might also require the headlight switch to be on. Sorry - I do it almost automatically and can't remember the sequences (and I assure you it has nothing to do with getting older )

On my rig it needs to be in reverse before the docking lights come on. Don't forget like I did and leave the switch on as every time you put the tranny in reverse the docking lights come on.

I'm glad mine doesn't need to be in reverse, or running.
I've used mine several times to hook up power and water at night.

Hmmm... I have flipped the switch for mine and they don't come on. Never much worried about it. Will have to check in reverse and with engine running to see if those are prerequisites. Thanks.

Thanks all for the input...
I have it figured out...kind of a goofy setup...can turn them on without the engine running...but with the engine running I have to be in Reverse...

That way, they aren't on when driving down the road. (Not so goofy)

Yep....2011 42QD. Knew I had to be in reverse for the docking lights to come on. Did not realize they stayed on with engine off until unloading last night and saw them still on! But it does make sense.
