Do you recognize this
We just got a 2006 Journey 39 and on the Engine battery bank on the positive terminal there is a device that has two contacts that connects to a red wire. Do you have any idea what this is and what it goes to?

I think it's a fused line.

I think your right. Do any of you Journey owners have this on your rig or is this some previous owner add on or mod?

It could be a battery temperature sensor. We had one on our '11 Journey which I had to replace. It gave a warning at the EMS display.

Don't have one, but I tend to agree with Cousin Ed

Just looking at the gauge of the wire coming off of the device would make me think its a fused link rather than a BTS

My temp sensor is on the coach batteries, for the inverter. OP stated they were engine/chassis and with that said I would lean toward fused link. what if you disconnected that wire and see what was inop or quit functioning. Do you have the wiring schematics for your coach? Mine came in the literature with the coach and I also found them in PDF from winnebago.

Looks like a maxi fuse.
Trace that red wire and see what it powers up.

Well,
To me, if you click on the picture, then zoom in as close as possible, it appears that the metal tab the wire is attached to, is DIRECTLY attached to the positive battery terminal. If that's what I think it does, then the objects on top of the metal tab, have no effect on the transfer of power to the wire itself. At least that's what I think it looks like. I've never seen anything like it. I too would be interested in just what the wire from it, leads to.

Looks like a circuit breaker, unhook it and try your jacks, if you have them.

Well it appears that this must not be stock item on a Winnebago Journey. My guess is that it is the power to the hydraulic system for the jacks and the slides. I will disconnect it this morning and see if I have power to them. I will also get some better shots of the device. Note that the two batteries were not connected together in the photo. The way it came from the dealer but according to the schematics they should be. The battery with the device in question was not getting charged by the alternator. I was also having a lot of problems with jacks and slides. Since I connected them together and I have no problems. So that is why I think it goes to the hydraulic pump. Will find out this morning and let you know. Thanks for all the inputs.

I took the lead off this morning and everything still worked. Followed the wire and it goes to the towing plug. The previous owner had an electronic brake controller for the tow vehicle. I use a different system for the tow brakes. I suspect this was to power his brakes in the tow vehicle. The device is two circuit breakers in parallel. Thanks for all the ideas.
