Cut off switch 2020 View
Hello
I have a 2020 Winnebago View and have a battery issue.
The owners manual says to disconnect the chassis battery whenever it will be stationary for a long time, (pg 122).
The recommended procedure is to switch off the power by removing the plug. Our storage people think this is inconvenient and a potential problem since the plug could make contact with the ground pin if it isn’t done properly.
We were thinking of installing a cut off switch. Has anyone run into this issue yet?
Thanks

I'm not up on the view but it is not unusual for all vehicles to have small voltage drains ( parasitic drains?) and many do want to disconnect the battery. One of the easy methods I have used on boats and RV are pretty cheap and easy to install and use if the battery is easy to access.
These are both types which I have used :

This one, you put on the post and unscrew the green knob to cut power.
https://www.harborfreight.com/batter...IaAoEvEALw_wcB
This is somewhat more secure but can take more thought to find where to put it. On this, you turn the big key to cut power,remove the key and nobody can turn it back on .
They don't have to come from Harbor Freight but just where I found pictures and they are plenty sturdy and cheap--- if the situation is right. Much easier than removing cables, etc.

Assuming you're talking about the chassis (starting?) battery, consider the warranty implications on your chassis, if you install something that causes a major electrical, or other, problem.

I have installed several of these Blue Sea Systems Battery isolation / parallel switches on boats. It can isolate / disconnect one or both battery banks and in the case of an emergency can parallel both banks for additional starting power. It is a “Make Before Break” arrangement which means it can be switched between banks without power interruption.
Very straight forward wiring; just ensure you use sufficient gauge wire and terminals.
Use this chart to determine appropriate cable;

Similar to Morich's solution, just another option this link gets you the Blue Seas catalogue;

This link is to give an example of cost for one possible switch;

In my 2018 view, the power cut off to the back for storage is located by the door under the radio where your awning and stair buttons are

Vehicle Battery Isolation
Can’t speak to the 2020 version Sprinter chassis, but on my 2008 Sprinter, isolating the chassis (engine) battery is easily done by lifting the positive disconnect located by the foot peddle for the throttle(gas peddle in auto speak). When I put the coach in storage I open this isolation disconnect and reconnect it when I ready to use the coach again. Never had a problem with a charged battery for starting the vehicle after long periods of non use.

The 2020 chassis disconnect procedure is in your owner’s manual and I’m sure that either your local M-B dealer or favorite RV repair place can show you how it is done. Note that there are some recalibration things you have to do (on the windows I think) but those are also spelled out in your owner’s manual.
OR....you can do what we chose to do when the RV is idle for some time: put the chassis battery on a trickle charger. Some have used less expensive genetic types, and some have installed (or had installed ) a hard wired type, but I chose to use the one recommended by M-B (model A0009822921) and hook it up under the hood to the jump start terminals. Cost is ~$120 or so.

I have a 2020 Navion which I believe is similar to the View. There is no longer a cutoff chassis (Aka starter battery) switch. There is a manual disconnect plug/terminal behind a plastic plate in the driver side footwell about where your right shin would rest when your right foot is on the accelerator. Pull the plastic panel off, inside you will see a heavy gauge wire with a terminal on top and a red button that releases the terminal. Depress the red button and pull the terminal to the rear of the coach. Not a lot of room in there but once you do it, it is pretty simple going forward.
