Cummins Onan 5500 Generator

Can anyone tell me what is the the actual amp output of this generator? Once the generator has cycled up the Powerline display indicates 30 amps. Both a/c will run but not all other electrical accessories at the same time. I thought the 5500's output was 50 amps. My RV is a 2013 Sunstar 35F.

A MH with a 30 amp service will have an Onan with a 30 & 20 circuit breaker set. The 30 amp goes to breaker box and the 20 feeds the 2nd A/C. The same generator in a 50 amp MH will have a 30 & 30 amp circuit breaker set to share the load equally at the breaker box. You essentially get two 30 amp 110V circuits.

Rockwood27 is correct. What you can do is switch the rear AC to run off of the generator which would be going through the 20A circuit breaker on the generator. This leaves the other 30A circuit on the generator available for the front AC and all of the rest of the house appliances. The switch for the rear air conditioner should look like this, it is in the upper left hand corner of the panel. The panel on mine is on the wall on the left hand side of the entrance stairs.

It appears no one else answered your question, but I will do my best to help. Your setup according to Itasca is a 50 amp setup and your generator should be putting it 50 amps. Take a look at generator and see if both the circuit breakers are set. Even they are, open the breakers and reset them any way. Make sure the generator is NOT running when you do this.

Yes, the OP has a 50 amp MH, but the Onan can only supply at most 30 amps per leg.

Yep, I made the mistake of assuming he had a 30A service. So my post can be disregarded. I got to thinking about that after posting so I looked up his MH and found that his was 50A. Ooops, too late, I couldn't go back and edit my post.
