Assuming you can access the converter/charger in it's current location.
Assuming you know the exact make/model of the current converter/charger.
Assuming you can safely do basic electrical work, including safely connecting and disconnecting power sources to and from it, before and after the replacement.
I would contact Randy at Best Converter dot com and ask him for recommendations. There may be a modern multi-stage converter/charger that's a "drop in" replacement for your current unit.
Thay can provide live phone support for you if you aren't sure what goes where when you do the work.
