Can't we just keep it simple?
I've just been spending some time waiting and spending some wait time with looking at drawings for my Honda pilot!
I came a cross a new to me item. That's not at all hard on auto stuff as I'm not into that very often but this one caught my eye, so wanted to know more??
Any of you car folks run across the "leak current autocut relay"?
Have you wondered why it is so hard to work in one area and cross over to others areas of work?
This language stuff should be a bit more uniform, it seems!
ARGH!
Could they just tell me that and call them the same thing?
Or do we get paid more for knowing all the "big words"?

There are different types of these devices that work in different ways and have different trip threshholds, and are looking for different issues, hence the different names. There are even 2 levels of GFCI protection, one for personnel and one for equipment (GFP). The device on a hair dryer is an IDCI or Immersion Detection Circuit Interrupter, not a GFCI. The one on the portable AC unit is a LCDI or Leakage Current Detection Interrupter designed to detect damage to the cord, it is not a GFCI.
However this is the first I have heard of a device like this on a car. Is this an EV?

No the car is just an off the shelf Honda pilot! what brought it to my attention was looking for a handy place to wire in a dash cam without having to run down the column or a cord going to the cigarette lighter.
What makes all those item you mention harder to work is that they all do the same basic thing but each industry has a different name!
I had the drawing for a bit this morning when I noticed the item but lost the thread of where, right now.
Just another one of those small points on cars that I am sure I will never get close to knowing enough to be worth using!
For my purposes, I will not need the info to add a dash cam to an RV as we have lots of options there but for the Honda it does solve part of my problem as I have been slow to add one there due to wiring questions.
On the car it uses the "leak" from the inside dome lights being left on to cut them off after a preset time!

Yea, and my LED dome lights slowly-dim to off. What's up with that? It just makes this old man think I'm losing my sight.

So the next time you need to find the GFCI, will you be able to find the leak current autocut device relay at the same time?
So we have GFCI, RCCB and the poor leak current gizmo never got a short easy handle to remember?
All doing the same thing but nobody agrees what to call them?

RCD and RCCB are terms from other countries, RCD/RCCB can sometimes, but not always, also have a higher trip threshold. In some countries they are incorporated into the main.
Just like S.A.E. vs Metric and inches vs. millimeters which we are still dealing with today. I don't expect the whole world will be on the same page anytime soon.

Gotta agree with that final thought!
More likely that predicted 2040 date comes along first!
