Battery Question - Need a quick answer!

This may seem an unusual question. I have a Winnebago Adventurer. Is there any harm in having the shore line plugged in, with the generator running, and with the engine running, or the combination of any two? Are there circuits in place for protection?

If you are plugged into shore power and start the generator the transfer switch will choose generator.

No problem with the other.

Is there a reason why you are doing this?

Yes, it was actually accidental. I had left the coach plugged in when I started the generator for its monthly excercise. Then without thinking I started the engine to check something else. Just wondering if I screwed anything up.

I always ensure the air conditioners are turned off when transferring from ground power to genny (or vice versa). This way the transfer switch is not handing high current when the contacts are switching.

X2 and no harm in what you do. Just take the load off the system before you start the Genny. and give it 1 to 2 minutes to equalize.

If you are exercising your generator make sure to put at least 1/2 load on it. Air conditioning and the electric element for the water heater will work.
