shastaron,

I think this is how you'd wire the 6v batts:

Is there anything else that one has to do to change to 6v batteries?

The only other thing I can think of would be to read your inverter manual. Most inverters have a setup menu selection where you need to enter your battery bank size. In the case of four 6 volt batteries, that would be 440 amp-hrs.

Tweke that is it. I knew sombody would remember quicker than me. Regards to the inverter. No change just connect your positive at the top #1 positive (in the drawing) and your negative at the bottom #4 negative.

I also have solar and made the same conections coming from my control panel. Works good.

To, Tweke and others,re; 6 volt batteries

Thanks ,Tweke, it took 3 years to get my system up.

Contact Interstate Battery in Texas for a 6 volt wiring schematic, they can e-mail or fax it to you.

Also in my Prosine manual they show cross- tying batteries which I did last year and system is working tremendous.

Very few use cross-tying , but should.

I haven't figured out how to post pictures yet but when I get my next lesson from my grand-daughter ,I'll learn.

Get info from INterstate and ask about cross-tying.

Thanks==== Aime===== AJBJRVERS======

I have the Dimensions Inverter/Charger. In the manual it says, "The battery selector switch located at the right side of the chassis must be set according to the type and size of the battery the SPS is connected to as shown below:

More than 400 AH, Sealed Lead Acid A
More than 400 AH, Wet Lead Acid C
Less than 400 AH, Sealed Lead Acid B
Less than 400 AH, Wet Lead Acid D

Now can anyone tell me where to find that battery selector switch?

The DIP switches are located toward the back of the inverter through a square (about 1/2 inch) opening on the top side of the inverter if you will asume that the mounting tabs of the inverter are the bottom. I needed I flash light to set the switches correctly. (factory set it wrong or didn't check)

Howdy,

Been doing a lot of lurking and most interested in boondocking.

Can't buy my rig until I sell my house
but have narrowed down the field to several Class C's.

One in particular is BigFoot because of the insulation factor and quality (Therma-pane windows, enclosed, heated tanks)as I want to do cold weather camping.
The model is 24ft with a
Base Dry weight of 9920
GVWR 14050
GCWR 20000

I was reading with interest your boodocking set up and have 2 questions if you don't mind

1. Would the weight of your set up ( batteries, solar panels etc) be too heavy for a Class C of this weight?

2. What is the cost for a set up like yours?
