Battery Doctor Isolator vs. Solenoid

I have a Battery Doctor 100A battery isolator that I bought for my van but am going to install a DC to DC charger since my auxiliary battery is a deep cycle AGM battery.

I was thinking of using it to replace the existing solenoid in my 2002 Suncruiser and was wondering if there was an advantage in doing so. My house batteries are flooded, 6v golf cart batteries so the technologies match.

One advantage I see is that the solenoid is 18 years old and is ripe for failure.

What do you think?
